Multiple reports indicate Jay Bruce (1B/OF, NYM) and Curtis Granderson (OF, NYM) have cleared waivers, so it’s possible that either or perhaps even both of them could be traded by the end of the month. The team has been using Yoenis Céspedes (OF, NYM) in left field and Michael Conforto (OF, NYM) in center field on a daily basis of late. Bruce and Wilmer Flores (1B/2B/3B, NYM) have been platooning at first base. When the team faces a right-handed pitcher, Bruce typically draws the assignment at first base with Granderson patrolling right field. Bruce, prior to sitting out Aug. 5 and 6 due to a stiff neck, had been playing right field against southpaws with Flores manning first base.
