Most of the positions on the Nationals are settled, so there aren’t many spring battles to play out over the remaining couple of weeks of spring training—barring injury, of course. But we can’t really bar injury, especially not when considering first base in Washington.

We’re talking, of course, about Ryan Zimmerman (1B, WAS), who in his 13 full years in the majors has averaged only 124 games played per season. While missing half of 2018 with various ailments (side, back, oblique, back again), he still managed to be reasonably productive: 33 R, 13 HR, 51 RBI, .264 BA in 288 AB.
