The decision to try Freddie Freeman (1B, ATL) at third base caught pretty much everyone by surprise. However, if he winds up proving capable of providing reasonably adequate defense at the hot corner, it would be a major boon to the Braves. In addition to allowing the Braves to keep hot-hitting Matt Adams (1B, ATL) in the lineup, it would also address the team’s biggest weakness—third base.

Through the first 79 games of 2017, the Braves have gotten putrid offensive production from third base, slashing .237/.290/.341 with 6 HR. Adonis Garcia (3B, ATL) began the season as the starting third baseman, but once again showed that he’s not the long-term answer and would be best suited in a platoon/bench role. He landed on the...
