As we wrote here on July 11, Jim Johnson’s (RHP, ATL) recent stretch of poor performance has been highly problematic. Through eight IP in July, he has a 6.75 ERA, 3 blown saves and a 6.8 Ctl. He earned his MLB leading eighth blown save on July 29, prompting manager Brian Snitker to announce on July 30 that Johnson is no longer the team’s primary closer. Snitker hinted that he would mix and match based on situations.

Arodys Vizcaíno (RHP, ATL), who spent two weeks on the disabled list last month due to a sprained right index finger, was in line to get a save chance on July 30, had one arisen. The 26-year-old has a 2.63 ERA, 9.8 Dom, 2.9 Ctl and 116 BPV in 38 IP this year. He has benefitted from some good fortune (29% H%,...
