PT TOMORROW: NL Central—Young pitchers to keep an eye on early this offseason

St. Louis Cardinals

It’s no secret that the Cardinals need to add to their pitching staff prior to the 2024 season if they hope to return to their status as perennial contenders in the NL Central and National League as a whole. There’s already been speculation from beat writers such as Derrick Goold and Ben Frederickson of the St. Louis Dispatch that the team needs to add as many as three starters and have advocated for high-end talent such as Aaron Nola (RHP, PHI) to be added by the team. While some of the internal candidates such as Jake Woodford (RHP, STL) and Matthew Liberatore (LHP, STL) have arguably hurt their chances of being long-term rotation options, another young pitcher has taken advantage of his recent opportunities.
