PT TOMORROW: NL Central—Soler nearing return

Jorge Soler (OF, CHC), out since early June with a sprained ankle, was able to run the bases prior to the team's game June 25. He's said to be nearing a rehab assignment, making a return in early July look like a distinct possibility. He's been a bit of a disappointment so far this year, hitting just four home runs with a 121 PX in 189 at-bats, after hitting five home runs in just 89 at-bats last year. It could actually be worse if not for a 39 percent hit rate that has bumped his batting average up to .265, despite a 65 percent contact rate and .239 xBA. That being said, Soler offers huge upside, and should hit for considerably more power during the second half.
