The Pirates recently held their annual fan festival, and Manger Clint Hurdle offered glowing remarks for Erik González (SS, PIT), including tossing around the term “dynamic” when describing the infielder to the media. Pittsburgh, which has a hole at shortstop after letting Jordy Mercer go in the offseason, acquired Gonzalez in a trade with Cleveland in November.

It could be mid-winter noise coming from Hurdle, but if Pirates are truly sold on Gonzalez stepping in at SS, it could explain their tepid approach toward that position in free agency (or the rumors are true that they're really cheap). Whatever the reason, with an ADP in the 660s right now, Gonzalez, who was stuck behind Francisco Lindor and José Ramírez...
