Within the next week or so, we’ll have answers as to what the Cardinals did and did not accomplish at the trade deadline. In the meantime, there’s another intriguing storyline emerging around Brendan Donovan (2B/3B/OF, STL). For nearly the last month, he has been unable to field a defensive position while dealing with a right flexor strain. Since, he’s started 11 of 20 games at DH (through Sunday).

It’s not clear how the situation will be resolved. Donovan visited a specialist in Texas prior to the team’s series in Chicago, the result of which was him being shut down from throwing for another several weeks.
