The Brewers made a necessary but difficult change to their roster by designating Lorenzo Cain (OF, FA) for assignment. The short-term effect (covered in PT Today) should lead to a substantial increase in Tyrone Taylor’s (OF, MIL) opportunity. However, Taylor will have to prove capable of maintaining the role. His overall skills remain in fairly strong shape, but he has faltered significantly in June (53 HctX, 37 xPX). If his -4 BPV doesn’t rise in the short term, Milwaukee could find itself looking for help in the outfield.

In the short term, Jonathan Davis (OF, MIL) was recalled Saturday and appears poised to serve as the team’s fifth outfielder. That will likely change when Kolten Wong (2B, MIL) is able to return,...
