It will only take rewinding to trade deadline conversations to remember that both Blake Snell (LHP, SD) and Josh Hader (LHP, SD) are pending free agents. Thus, this team’s offseason will be defined by its pitching staff once again. In addition to Snell, there are a few other interesting contract situations to be aware of. Michael Wacha (RHP, SD) has a mutual option for 2024 and a club option for 2025, both of which are worth $16 million. As laid out by Spotrac, the catch is that if they don’t exercise both of those options this offseason, Wacha’s contract would shift to a player option for $6.5 and $6 million in each year, respectively.
