The Cardinals didn’t move on from many hitters at the trade deadline, though one exception was Paul DeJong (SS, TOR). While he may not be fantasy relevant in the majority of formats anymore, he was the team’s everyday shortstop from late April until the day he was dealt. Prior to going on the injured list, Tommy Edman (2B/SS/3B/OF, STL) had played primarily in center field, but he has since played every game at shortstop since being activated (through Saturday) – perhaps not coincidentally the day DeJong was traded.

The day before, the team announced it was shutting down Brendan Donovan (2B/3B/OF, STL) for the season. He was available only as the team’s DH for the prior month, so his absence creates significant...
