Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are at an interesting posture in the offseason. Public comments made by ownership and the front office suggested that the team would look to get back to being competitive for a division title, and potentially more. To this point, the team has added Jameson Taillon (RHP, CHC) and Cody Bellinger (OF, CHC), both of whom have will have big impacts, presumptively positive ones, on the 2023 team. Willson Contreras (C, STL) was a painful departure, which was only made worse by the fact that he landed with the division and historical rival Cardinals. As things currently stand, Yan Gomes (C, CHC) would be the Cubs' Opening Day backstop. In other words, expect some type of additional move at the position.
