PT TOMORROW: AL WEST—No clarity behind the plate

Los Angeles Angels

As late as the week before Opening Day, the club had a catcher controversy on its hands. Specifically, the call as to whether to keep rookie Logan O'Hoppe up to share duties with veteran Max Stassi or to send him to Triple-A for more seasoning. Stassi's subsequent hip injury and unspecified family issues made this moot, which paved the way for O'Hoppe—who more than impressed (.886 OPS, 4 HR) through 59 PA. But a torn left labrum abruptly shelved O'Hoppe, leaving him with a minimal chance of some September PA at very best. Stassi has reportedly begun baseball activities, but his return date is also murky, leaving the club with uncertainty behind the plate that's likely to linger throughout the season.

Stunningly...
