The off-season trades of cornerstones James Paxton and Jean Segura have quickly repositioned the club from 2018 contender to 2019 rebuilder. And with past-prime components like Jay Bruce and Edwin Encarnación currently on the roster, GM Jerry DiPoto is likely seeking ways to pull more triggers as opportunity allows. One new acquisition whose uncertain playing time will benefit from their departures should be Domingo Santana (OF, SEA), acquired this offseason from MIL in return for platoon LF Ben Gamel and minor league pitching.
