PT TOMORROW: AL West—DeShields the CF in TEX?

Texas Rangers

Leonys Martin's (OF, TEX) Monday start vs. NYY was just his first in the previous nine games. As noted in this space at the end of June, Martin's dreadful offensive performance had the Rangers re-evaluating their CF options, and nothing has changed in the interim, as suggested by his .219/.266/.317 line through 278 AB. All of Martin's ct% (77%), LD% (16%) and h% are down from recent seasons, with poor patience, sub-par power and HctX adding to a futile picture. Martin's glove and running game (14/5 SB/CS) remain productive, but these doesn't come close to neutralizing the overall skill set anemia here.
