What happens in the next three weeks before Opening Day is likely to decide the first-base job, at least for the first 4-6 weeks of the season. Jon Singleton (1B/DH, HOU) was named the starting 1B before pitchers and catchers reported, and Houston would love to wring some kind of value from the remaining four years / $8M on his contract. But despite sharing the team AB lead through Monday, Singleton is just 3-for-27 this spring including with one HR, one walk and 11 Ks.
