Both Stephen Piscotty (OF, OAK) and Ramón Laureano (OF, OAK) appear to have the RF and CF spots on lockdown, but the latter still has some things to prove, both in March and early in the regular season. Laureano wrested the CF job from struggling Dustin Fowler (OF, OAK) last year with an August/September surge that featured a 7/1 SB/CS, 5 HR, .836 OPS over 156 AB, and photo-worthy defense. But this small sample also included meh contact skills (68% ct%, 100 HctX) and an 86 xPX that says Laureano still has plenty to prove. Pitching needs and a crowded, versatile bench suggests that Fowler will be back in Triple-A to get regular playing time as of Opening Day.
