The Orioles gave up on another member of their disappointing corner-outfield mix this week, designating Travis Snider (OF, BAL) for assignment. Whether the 27-year-old Snider can latch on with another team is questionable. The power potential that he had shown in 2009 and 2010 seemed to be coming out of hibernation in the second half of 2014. As it turned out, however, Snider’s xPX proved to be the more accurate gauge, with his PX joining his xPX below league average and his contact rate receding in 2015 as well.

Snider ceded his roster spot to deadline acquisition Junior Lake (OF, BAL), who at a minimum might slip into the weak side of platoon at DH with Jimmy Paredes (DH, BAL) (.245/.286/.321 vs. LHP). However, there...
