Alex Rodriguez (DH, NYY) has plenty of reasons to want to prolong his career, what with his 700th HR just 13 away and Barry Bonds’ career-record 762 HR within reach. Though it likely will take somone to sign him once his current contract expires the season after next.

But from Aug. 1 through the end of the 2015 season, Rodriguez hit .191 with 59 strikeouts in 183 AB (68% ct%), though his power skills remained intact, and a strong flyball rate allowed him to hit 7 HR in September alone.

For now, manager Joe Girardi has said he believes that all Rodriguez needs is more frequent days off. That should benefit the players Matt Dodge discussed in Playing Time Today Feb. 8, in light of the season-ending injury to Greg Bird...
