Playing Time Today columnist Matt Dodge has teased out well the implications of Manager John Farrell’s statement, "If Shane Victorino (OF, BOS) is fully capable and fully healthy, he's our RF." But, if given truth serum, Farrell may well have added yet another qualifier: “If he’s still on our team,” as many observers’ belief that the manager’s statement was designed merely to prop up Victorino’s trade value.

This is the same manager who earlier this offseason talked glowingly about the possibility of Mookie Betts (OF, BOS) hitting leadoff, which of course would require him to be in the lineup.
