PT TOMORROW: AL East—Hicks heats up for NYY

A steady stream of playing time occasioned by the hip strain of Jacoby Ellsbury (OF, NYY) seems to have been exactly what Aaron Hicks (OF, NYY) needed to get his bat going.

Entering play May 15, Hicks had gone 10-for-24 (.417) with two homers and six RBIs in his past eight games.

Ellsbury returned to action over the weekend; however, there should be continued opportunities for Hicks in the near term, at least until Alex Rodriguez (DH, NYY) returns from a hamstring strain, something that could occur as soon as the end of this week.

What happens at that point remains to be seen. However, the recent “dings” suffered by Ellsbury, Rodriguez and Brett Gardner (OF, NYY), who missed a game after being hit by a pitch May 4,...
