If he can just find a way to rein in his control, a significant role would seem to be there for the taking for Darwinzon Hernandez (LHP, BOS) at some point in 2019.

In a spring in which members of the team’s starting rotation—particularly Chris Sale (LHP, BOS)—have been brought along slowly, and no one has stepped up to seize the team’s wide-open closer role, Hernandez has been one of the few bright spots on the mound for the defending world champions.

Through eight innings, Hernandez has given up a lone run while striking out 11. He has, however, walked five batters, suggesting that his command is still a work in progress. Hernandez walked 60 in 101 IP (5.3 Ctl) at High-A Salem last year before walking a batter an inning...
