PT TOMORROW: AL East—Can Alvarez, Nunez seize opportunity in BAL?

Baltimore Orioles

As Stephen Nickrand noted in his latest Batter Buyers Guide column, Pedro Álvarez (DH, BAL) had recently been winning playing time at third base, a position at which he has seen scant playing time since 2014.

As Nickrand noted, Alvarez has posted strong power skills in his first 80 AB, though they have been masked by an 18% hit rate. That would be a good bet to regress upward, if and when Alvarez can get past a minor hamstring injury that sidelined him over the weekend.

Provided the injury has not soured the Orioles on him playing the position, Alvarez should have plenty of time to reassert himself on the strong side of a third-base platoon with Danny Valencia (3B, BAL) before the return of Tim Beckham (3B, BAL)...

Almost!
