The Orioles seem to be losing patience with Pedro Álvarez (DH, BAL), who entered the season as Plan A as the team’s designated hitter against right-handed pitching. On April 23, Alvarez sat as Hyun Soo Kim (OF, BAL) played left field and Mark Trumbo (OF, BAL) filled the DH role.

Two days earlier, against another right-handed starter (Toronto’s Marco Estrada), Nolan Reimold (OF, BAL) was the beneficiary of Trumbo taking off his glove. Such arrangements could occur more frequently if Alvarez does not pick up the pace.
