The big news out of Tampa as the season approached was, of course, the trade of Austin Meadows (OF, DET), which paved the way for Josh Lowe (OF, TAM) to start the season on the big league roster.

If there was ever any doubt that the Rays intended to give Lowe a chance to cement himself in the lineup, it was probably dispelled by the fact that the left-handed-hitting Lowe got the starting nod on Opening Day against a left-handed starter, John Means (LHP, BAL).

Lowe, of course, could always fritter away the opportunity he has been given, particularly if he struggles to make...
