PT TOMORROW: AL East — Can NYY Brito lay claim to long-term rotation spot?

New York Yankees

On April 8, Jhony Brito (RHP, NYY) etched his name in the Yankees’ history book — albeit on an obscure page — by becoming the first pitcher in team history to pitch at least five innings, allow three or fewer hits and give up one or fewer runs in each of his first two starts.

In his second start, Brito did not have as much success missing bats — his changeup was less effective, according to published reports — but he still managed to get the job done.

As the Yankees start to get pitchers back — Luis Severino (RHP, NYY) through a successful bullpen session on April 10 — one of Brito, Domingo Germán (RHP, NYY) and Clarke Schmidt (RHP, NYY) will need to be demoted, at least to the bullpen, if not the minors.
