PT TOMORROW: AL Central—Tuffy Rhodes ahead?

(Note: On Opening Day in 1994, Tuffy Rhodes (OF, CHC) hit three home runs in his first three at-bats, against Dwight Gooden (RHP, NYM). Rotisserie managers raced to the free agent wire to pick up Rhodes, and were severely disappointed when he only hit five more home runs (in a total of 269 AB) over the course of that season.)

Exhibit A is Yermín Mercedes (DH, CHW; pictured above), who is 13-for-23 with a home run and three doubles through the first week. (All stats through Wednesday, April 7.) Mercedes was recently called out as a bench target in a Batter Buyers Guide column, but with a start like this, he may not see the bench for a while.
