PT TOMORROW: AL Central—Kipnis on the hot seat

Cleveland Indians

The news this week that the Indians were among the teams that came close to trading for Ian Kinsler makes it seem that they view struggling veteran Jason Kipnis (2B, CLE) as a bit of a liability. The 31-year-old Kipnis is in the midst of his worst season ever, with career-worst marks in batting average, OBP, OPS, xBA, and BPV. He does still have above average numbers in hard contact (105) and xPX (122), suggesting there's still some power life in his bat, though those skills have declined to 95 and 96, respectively, since the All-Star break.

An August trade for a second baseman (or even a third baseman, as José Ramírez could shift over to second) is still very much a possibility. But if that doesn't happen, are there...

Almost!
