The 2015 champs may credit their success in part to having and acquiring rotation depth that was much needed when injuries and issues struck the team. Jason Vargas (LHP, KC) needed Tommy John surgery, Yordano Ventura (RHP, KC) was lost for nearly a month with ulner nerve irritation, and Jeremy Guthrie (RHP, FA) was terrible as a starter. In came Chris Young (RHP, KC), Kris Medlen (RHP, KC) and Johnny Cueto (RHP, SF) to save the day.
