After being shut down in early June with what was then described as a “blood disorder,” later diagnosed as chronic myeloid leukemia, Carlos Carrasco (RHP, CLE) has been working his way back to the mound and has a pair of relief appearances at Double-A Akron where he has allowed zero hits and put up a 5/1 K/BB ratio over 2.2 IP. The most encouraging sign for Carrasco, beyond the disease being under control, was his fastball hitting 97 mph, suggesting his body has responded well to the treatment and he could be ready for a late-inning bullpen role down the stretch as Cleveland attempts to make the postseason.
