The 2016 bullpen was not good, finishing 24th in team ERA. Few changes were made in the offseason, and poor spring performances were mostly forgiven. Now that DET has allowed 17 ER in 22 IP (28th in MLB as of April 11), the first casualty became Bruce Rondon (RHP, DET). Joe Jiménez (RHP, DET) is now up, and others are bound to be promoted.

Arcenio Leon (RHP, DET; pictured above) has faced a hard road at each level of pro ball. In his latest journey, he had compiled a 6.71 ERA with a 4.6 Ctl in 55 IP for three Triple-A teams. Leon then ran into a 2015 detour, requiring shoulder surgery to correct a circulation issue. In 2016, he finally conquered similar competition at Monclova of the Mexican League, posting a 3.30 ERA...
