PT TOMORROW: AL Central—1B and DH; big sticks, without speed

Chicago White Sox

Current projections show 2020 AL MVP José Abreu (1B, CHW; pictured above, applying the tag) and rookie Andrew Vaughn (1B, CHW) sharing the vast majority of the playing time at both the 1B and DH positions. Abreu is a known and valuable commodity, averaging $28 in rotisserie value over his seven MLB seasons, but at age 34, might start seeing more “half-days off” in the DH slot to keep him fresh. He has started 93% of the White Sox games since arriving in 2014, and 16% of those starts were in the DH slot, but in 2020 he played all 60 games, with 54 starts at 1B and only six at DH.

(Note: Abreu tested positive for COVID-19 on February 24, 2021, but is asymptomatic at the time of this writing and is expected to be ready...
