There have been a few instances recently of service time manipulation on the part of big league clubs keeping their best prospects at Triple-A just long enough to gain an additional year of control. But the White Sox may have established a new practice regarding the most prized young players. The team has signed Eloy Jiménez (OF, CHW) to a six-year contract extension which means, among other things, that service time manipulation is immaterial for him, and that the White Sox outfield could get a little more crowded to start the season instead of toward the end of April. That said, his spring training numbers (.154/.154/.346 over 26 at bats with zero BB and nine Ks) suggest a few weeks in Triple-A wouldn’t be the worst...
