The team has taken a step forward in 2023, as they have already matched their win total (66) from a season ago with 17 games left to play. The foundation of this roster will remain intact, and with better health on the pitching front, the team could make more gains next season, especially if youngsters like Colt Keith (2B, DET) and Justyn-Henry Malloy (OF, DET) are ready to contribute.

Javier Báez (SS, DET) has an opt-out clause in his contract following this season, and while a change of scenery would be nice for the 30-year-old, he wouldn't come close to matching the four years and $98 million left on his deal if he were to hit the open market.
