The Twins will enter the off-season with nine free agents, easily the highest number in the division. At the top of the list is Nelson Cruz (DH, MIN; pictured above), who currently owns a 1.026 OPS in his age-40 season, ranking 7th highest all time for players age 39 or older. (Thank you Baseball Reference Stathead.) That would seem to be enough to ensure a contract prior to the 2021 season, despite some incremental declines in HctX and xPx and a more noticeable drop in fly balls (40% FB% in 2019, down to 32% FB% in 2020). The question will be whether that contract comes from the Twins or from another team.
