It appeared that the Josh Hader (LHP, MIL) trade would finally allow Devin Williams (RHP, MIL) to step into the closer role befitting of his skills. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan since Williams has taken over in the ninth inning. In 11 games since (through Sunday), Williams has a solid enough 3.00 ERA, however, he’s walked four batters in that span, while suffering two losses and a blown save. While far from a meltdown, Willams entered August having allowed only five earned runs across his first 39.2 innings this season. Similarly, he surrendered zero home runs until Hader was dealt, and has since given two. On Sunday, Williams entered the game to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning and...
