NL West: Peralta receiving regular AB in San Diego

The shoulder injury to Padres 2B Xander Bogaerts has created an unexpected playing time opportunity for veteran OF David Peralta. Peralta, who signed a minor league deal with the Padres on May 18, has started in the OF or at DH in 10 of 12 games versus right-handed pitchers since being recalled on May 22.

With Bogaerts out, Jake Cronenworth has become the Padres everyday 2B, while Luis Arraez has replaced Cronenworth at 1B, opening up the DH spot for a pretty straight platoon with Peralta starting against righties and usually either Manny Machado, when healthy, or Donovan Solano starting against lefties.
