NL West: McCarthy getting another opportunity in ARI

Arizona Diamondbacks

With OF Corbin Carroll sidelined with a chip fracture in his left wrist, OF Jake McCarthy has started in RF and hit between 5th and 7th in all seven games since being recalled from AAA-Reno. With Carroll more than likely sidelined until after the All-Star break and the Diamondbacks likely to face only three or four lefties up until the break, McCarthy should continue to see regular playing time in RF. IF/OF Tim Tawa or OF Randal Grichuk will likely man RF against the upcoming lefties.

After getting off to a terrible start, McCarthy was optioned to AAA-Reno on April 21. He performed well at Reno (.314/.401/.440 with 12 SB in 237 PA) and has hit .240/.269/.560 with 2 HR and 1 SB in 26 PA since being recalled on June 24.
