NL West: Birdsong knocking on door of SF rotation

It is likely just a matter of time before rookie RHP Hayden Birdsong receives an opportunity to join the Giants' starting rotation. Birdsong, who narrowly lost out to RHP Landen Roupp for the final rotation spot out of spring training, has been very good in a multi-inning role out of the Giants' bullpen. He started the season with nine scoreless innings across four appearances before giving up his first two runs of the season on Tuesday, April 15 in one inning of work against the Phillies. Across 10 innings he has struck out nine and walked four.
