NL East: Waiting on J.D. in Queens

The Mets were supposed to be rebuilding in 2024 but have gotten off to a solid 13-11 start. They've accomplished that despite Kodai Senga being on the 60-day IL, Francisco Lindor's cold start and one of their late offseason free agent acquisitions having yet to take an at bat for the team: designated hitter J.D. Martinez.

Martinez is set to join the team this weekend as they kick off a three-game series against the struggling St. Louis Cardinals. He should slot in as the everyday designated hitter immediately. Martinez dealt with lower back tightness as soon as he started to get some reps at Triple-A, however over the last three games he's six for 21 with a slash line of .316/.381/.421 and a wRC+ of 126 that is right in line...
