Keibert Ruiz was injured in a freak accident on June 23 when a foul ball ricocheted off the dugout wall and struck him in the head. An initial CT scan indicated there was no concussion or fracture, but he was placed on the 10-day IL with a head contusion. A subsequent reevaluation after Ruiz complained of headaches concluded that he did in fact did suffer a concussion, and he was shifted to the 7-day concussion IL. He’ll need to be cleared by the medical staff before rejoining the lineup.

Ruiz, in the third year of an eight-year, $50M deal, has struggled rather mightily in 2025. A return before the All-Star break is still possible, but for now his first half split is looking more shriveled than a centenarian eating...
