Despite losing key players up and down the lineup and on the mound to injury since before the start of spring training, the Braves just keep on truckin’. At 36-18, they are tied with the Rays for the best record in MLB, and as silly as it might be to peek this far down the road just after Memorial Day, their chances of winning the division and making the playoffs stand at 86.1% and 97% respectively, according to FanGraphs. Failing to make the playoffs from these heights is about as rare as a white rhino riding a tricycle, although the intra-divisional rivals in Queens have pulled off that circus stunt a couple times in the past 20 years, including as recently as, oh, about eight months ago.
