Much like the kitten hanging onto a branch in the ubiquitous inspirational meme, the Marlins are dangling from the playoff picture by the very tip of their bill. Their postseason chances are currently slimmer than peak waif-era Kate Moss (1% according to Fangraphs). October baseball may be a long shot, but the team continues to goose helpful performances from fringe players that, while unheralded, have shown intriguing skills in the past.
