The Brewers were the first team to 70 wins this week and currently enjoy a 71-43 record. They lost the Tarik Skubal sweepstakes to the Dodgers and had a relatively conservative trade deadline as a result. That said, they bolstered one of the best pitching staffs in baseball with Dustin May, JoJo Romero, and Antonio Senzatela. They also added to their catching depth with a trade for Bo Naylor, who they then optioned to AAA-Nashville.
What they did not do is add a third baseman, which is a bit curious for a team who has the eighth-best offense in baseball with a team 104 wRC+ but has really struggled at the hot corner, where various platoons have resulted in a team mark of 74. That wRC+ ranks 29th in MLB, only ahead of...
