Given their young core and improving position players, Washington is shaping up to the chic pick for having some surprise success in 2025. But while the lineup holds tons of promise, do they have the starting pitching to complete for a playoff spot?
It is one area that seems to be lagging behind a bit, but what they don’t have in star power (a true “ace” level guy, for instance) they do have some depth. If we assume that MacKenzie Gore and Jake Irvin, two starters with 160+ IP from last year, are locks for the rotation, how does the rest of the group shake out?
Mitchell Parker, given his workload last year (29 GS, 151 IP) would seem to be a shoo-in. Skills in his first season (13% K-BB%; 101 BPX; 4.29 ERA) point...
