DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: NL East—Struggling starting pitchers

Miami Marlins

Alex Sanabia (RHP, MIA) and Wade LeBlanc (LHP, MIA) have not pitched well so far this season. Sanabia has a 4.66 ERA despite a 5.29 xERA, 4.7 Ctl, 4.9 Dom and -17 BPV in 35 IP and could be in jeopardy of being sent back to Triple-A soon if he doesn’t improve. LeBlanc hasn’t pitched quite as poorly as his 6.11 ERA and 1.67 WHIP would have you believe (4.91 xERA, 3.1 Ctl, 6.4 Dom and 50 BPV), but he has just one quality start in seven tries. LeBlanc thrived as a reliever last year posting a 2.53 ERA in 21.1 IP and could possibly be shifted back into that role at some point.

With Henderson Alvarez (RHP, MIA) and Nathan Eovaldi (RHP, MIA) out, the team doesn’t have a lot of options at the moment.

Alvarez, who has been out...
