Barring injury, the Opening Day rotation looks set, though unremarkable skill sets and brittleness could keep it tenuous throughout 2024. Coming off a fine 3.61/3.81 ERA / xERA over 144 IP last season, Nathan Eovaldi has been tapped as the club's Opening Day starter. But Eovaldi has tossed just 253 IP over the past two seasons, owns an F Health grade after missing seven weeks in the 2H due to a forearm strain - and his durability isn't likely to improve at age 34. Jon Gray was able to stay healthy throughout 2023, and he exceeded 150 IP for the first time since 2018. But the 32-year-old Gray's 4.13 / 4.33 ERA / xERA tells us to keep expectations in check.
