AL West: Whitcomb the better option at 2B

The Astros continue to experiment with the left field position. Jose Altuve has made a few starts already in left field and he’s expected to get more run, potentially into the regular season. The Astros signed Brendan Rodgers to a minor league deal, and he’s been playing second base daily, signaling that he has a good chance of filling in for Altuve.

But, let’s just say it is not that simple. Let’s dig deeper into another option with better offensive skills than Rodgers that could help the Astros more. That player is Shay Whitcomb. So far this spring, Whitcomb has played third base and second base. Whitcomb sputtered in his 46 plate appearances with the Astros last season, but thrived in the minors. Over 108 games...
