AL West: Time for a 2B change in Texas

Texas Rangers

The Rangers' offense has been stagnant outside of Corey Seager, Jake Burger, and Josh Jung. They have an unproductive platoon at DH in Joc Pederson and Andrew McCutchen. The Alejandro Osuna and Sam Haggerty LF platoon is not providing much. Even worse is the Josh H. Smith and Ezequiel Duran platoon at 2B. Smith and Duran have been solid utility players in recent seasons, but as regulars at 2B, the Rangers may need to make a change.

Smith entered the week hitting .208 over 92 plate appearances. He has yet to hit a home run to go with two doubles and two steals. Smith is barreling the ball 6.5% of the time with a 37.1% hard-hit rate. He is walking 14.1% of the time while striking out 17.4%, but a .026 ISO and 66 wRC+ aren’t...
