AL West: Closing battle in Anaheim

The Angels entered spring training without a locked-down closer, well, at least not an appointed locked-down closer. Over the offseason, they signed Jordan Romano, Drew Pomeranz, and Kirby Yates, two former closers, who are getting long in the tooth, but could help if given the chance. The Angels also have Robert Stephenson returning from injury. There are a handful of options to get saves entering the season, but who should or will likely be the closer is the question.

Romano is a former closer who saved 36 games in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023, but over the last two seasons has saved eight games each season with ERAs of 6.59 and 8.23. Romano has battled injuries and has not returned to his elite closing form,...
